Medical Porter

Reports to: Nurse Manager

Purpose of the Role

To provide safe and efficient transport of patients, equipment, and supplies within the

facility, supporting smooth clinical operations while upholding patient dignity, safety, and

infection control standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport patients to and from procedure rooms, wards, and recovery areas.

• Assist patients with mobility, including wheelchairs, stretchers, and lifting aids.

• Deliver equipment, sterile supplies, specimens, and medications as required.

• Support infection control by cleaning and preparing transport equipment after use.

• Dispose of clinical and non-clinical waste safely in line with hospital policies.

• Respond to emergency calls for urgent patient or equipment transfers.

• Report faulty equipment or safety hazards promptly.

• Collaborate with nurses, clinicians, and administrative staff to ensure smooth

operations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of Secondary school level education or equivalent.

• Prior healthcare support experience is an advantage.

• Physically fit and able to safely handle patients and equipment.

• Good communication skills and a caring, patient-centered approach.

• Fluency in local Ugandan language(s) is an added advantage
