Endoscopy Nurse

Reports to: Nurse Manager

Purpose of the Role

To provide high-quality nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic

endoscopy procedures, ensuring safety, comfort, and dignity while supporting the

endoscopist and maintaining best practices in infection prevention.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and assess patients before endoscopy procedures.

• Assist the endoscopist during diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

• Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, including recovery.

• Handle, clean, and maintain endoscopy equipment and instruments.

• Collect, label, and dispatch specimens accurately.

• Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.

• Respond effectively to clinical emergencies.

• Maintain accurate nursing records and documentation.

• Support scheduling, stock management, and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Enrolled or Registered Nurse with a valid practicing license.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

• Training or experience in endoscopy nursing, sedation, or life support is an added

advantage.

• Fluency in local Ugandan language(s) is an added advantage
